7 Reasons We Love Our HQ

The City of Denver
In 2008, CNNMoney.com put Denver in its top 10 for "Best Places to Live and Launch a Small Business." With a highly educated work force, a diverse economy, and the Rocky Mountains at our backdoor, the distinction comes as no surprise.

And as a small business, we benefit from being headquartered in Denver. First and foremost, we have an amazing talent pool to hire from. Secondly, we can encourage our staff to commute by light rail or via the 850 miles of bike paths the city offers. And finally, there's something to be said for all the open blue skies of Denver contributing to the open-minded and innovative ideas we see develop every day at our office.
The Garage
The main collaborative space is the Garage, a centrally located modular meeting space with glass garage doors that open to the break room. Frequently used for all-company get-togethers, the Garage is also utilized for client meetings, brainstorming, vendor strategy summits and break-out sessions among our teams.
The View
From Peter’s office on the south side to the Idea Lab and Editorial Conference Room on the north, our third-floor office has an awesome 180-degree view of Denver and the not-so-distant Rocky Mountains. On most days you can see two 14,000-foot-plus peaks — Mount Evans and Longs Peak — from practically anywhere in the office.

When it snows on a Thursday, and Friday is filled with blue skies and snowy peaks in the distance, the excitement for skiing on the weekend is all the more palpable.
The Neighborhood
OK, we talked about the view and the light rail trains, but honestly, our corporate headquarters are in a great spot. Much of the city is within 10 minutes of our front door, and a fair amount of our staff live in the surrounding neighborhoods of Washington Park, Platte Park and Baker, making their commute - well, carless.

We also have our pick of some fantastic restaurants and cafes for lunch breaks and even impromptu off-site meetings. Among a few of our favs are Stella's Coffeehouse, The Hornet, Vert Kitchen, Sushi Den, Blue Bonnet, Pasquini's, India's Pearl and Bistro One. We're divided on Griff's Burgers just north of the highway - it's a love-hate kinda place.
The Light Rail Trains
Remember in Blues Brothers when Jake asks Elwood "how often does the train go by?" Elwood's response: "So often you won't even notice."

The same could be said for us, but fortunately our trains are the super quiet RTD Light Rail lines that pass by our break room windows. When we first moved in we thought about posting funny signs for the passengers going by — until we realized our windows are reflective.
Orange and Blue
Peter Koclanes' family have been long-time season-ticket holders of the Denver Broncos, and as anyone who is familiar with Denver knows, they're kind of a big deal in these parts. In 2001, as the old Mile High Stadium was being torn down to make room for Invesco Field, the Broncos allowed season ticket holders to buy the seats they sat on all those years.

Four seats from the greatest NFL stadium ever (in our humble opinion) now reside in our break room.
What's on Tap?
If there is one thing that guests do a double take on, it's this. "Is that a kegerator?" they usually ask. Why yes, yes it is.

Over the years, we've had an array of craft brews on tap for Friday EODs and company parties. Fat Tire is the perennial favorite (predictable, yes, but it makes the most people happy), followed by Avalanche and 1554, all of which are brewed right here in Colorado. There was an unfortunate incident where the EVP of Strategic Development had it resupplied with Miller Lite. Whether this was a "strategic" move or not remains to be seen, but rumor has it she had to pay an anonymous employee to take it off our hands.

Currently on tap: 90 Shilling.
